The Craft Barn March Competition

It's competition time again at The Craft Barn, this month as Grandmother's day in France and Mother's day in England is almost here, the theme is Mothers and Grandmothers.

My lovely DT friend Poupette has created the sketch for us to follow

and there is THE most amazing prize for the lucky winner

I wouldn't mind winning this myself!
Nevermind I did get a buzz out of making the sample for the challenge using one of the last photo's I have of my lovely mum.

The photo was printed on Sticky Canvas, I'm loving working with this as you can do everything with it that you can do on an ordinary canvas.  I painted it with gesso missing the actual photo, then painted over with Adirondak Paint Dabber Aqua, Shell Pink. The glittered edge is glittery silver embossing powder and the text is Design Objectives  Whispers Words.  The text gives the definition of the word friend and I have coated it with gesso and inked with Adirondak  inks ~ Aqua, Pool, Shell Pink, Lake Mist then stamped with the flowery swirls from the Katzelkraft umounted rubber stamps - Nature.

I've used these stamps to create the background piece to the LO and the embossed flowers too, it's great to make your own design papers to make a perfect match to the rest of your stamping and have loved coordinating the paints and the inks to make a completely integrated look. Don't you just love ranger products????  I keep thinking that I could buy acrylic paints and die ink pads much cheaper and hesitated about buying the ranger dabbers and pads but I'm glad I went with them, the quality and colour matching is just great!

I made the dragonfly by stamping the Inkadinkado, Mindscapes dragonfly onto Acetate using

It's been lovely playing about with this layout, some lovely memories of my Mum and my friend, and I'm looking forward to visiting the entries to this months competition, it's one you can't afford to miss with such a fanastic prize.

Have Fun

x Michelle

This is a lovely piece Michelle and a great memento of your Mum. I love the delicate colours you have used and the text stamps.

A fitting page for a photo of your Mum, Michelle! It's really lovely with your use of such pretty feminine colours and stamps.
