A double dose today!

Hi all

Wow have I had a brilliant week already this week!  I've spent the last two days struggling with blogger and getting nowhere. I scheduled a post for The Craft Barn yesterday which promptly disappeared then today's post for Try it on Tuesday has gone walkabout too.  When I posted my sample on the TioT blog it was there in edit posts but didnt show when posted!!!  Help I'm Jinxed!!

Anyway I think it's working ok now (fingers crossed) so I'll try again.

Yesterday, then, was my turn to post for a Gift Week over at The Craft Barn so if you visited there you would have seen this little picture along with the other two that go with it. I really enjoyed using my promarkers to make 'real art' and am thrilled with this little project.

If you do get over to The Craft Barn Blog leave me a comment so I know you've visited!

Todays post should have been the new Challenge from Try it on Tuesday which is an alter it project coincidently sponsored by The Craft Barn. Give it a go and you'll be in with a chance of winning a £15 voucher.

The Challenge is to alter something using mosaics, a challenge I took very literally.

I don't know if you realise that I've been making my bathroom into a wet room and have been retiling it using mosaic tiles - Never again ! they are an absolute pain to get right but here is a photo of the bathroom almost complete with little grey mosaic tiles. You might even recognise the birds in the window!

Now altering a bathroom - will that count as an altered mosaic I wonder?
Maybe not!
I did use some of the mosaic tiles which were left from the bathroom though to make my little wall plaque

I painted the tiles with gesso then coloured them with TH Inks which I then stamped over with a mosaic stamp which I've had forever. It took almost as long to repeat stamp the mosaic as it did to tile the bathroom!

Had a play too with some flitter glu which I used along with foil to make the background. Now that's amazing stuff!  .......... Wonder if it'll work on walls????

Hope I've tempted you to have a go this week, if not with the tiling then maybe with TioT challenge.

Now for the real challenge - lets see if this posts!!!

Now .......... should I get aubergine towels or teal?..................

Have fun
x Michelle

Wow. Your wet room looks amazing! Teal towels, definitely! I love your art work too. Thanks for your comment about indenting fluid. If you want to turn bright colours into shimmery pastels it is useful. I have not tried adding colour directly to it, but I bet it would work. I have also used it to make backgrounds with scrunched up cellophane. It will resist distress ink too. Have an experiment, and you will probably come up with loads of uses

Hi Michelle

Just dropping in for a catch up, life has been nearly as hectic as yours lately. F had chicken pox before half term and I've only just got going with housework and stuff again, plus two funerals this week, hey, that's life, so apologies that I've not visited in an age.
Your little lily of the valley box was an absolute stunner, I love making little boxes so would have loved your session, maybe next time.
Your bathroom is looking great, a wet room, very posh. I'm with Sally, definitely the teal towels!!!
Love your mosaic card too. I have flitter glue on my list of must have next purchases, it looks brilliant.
Hope all is good with you and yours.
Hugs Lisax
