Bird Song for Santa!

Hi Gang

Thanks for all your words of encouragement, was begining to think I was never going to feel better but this morning the sun was shining, and I felt like enjoying the day, so I did!

And this is the result
Entitled 'Bird Song' it's my entry for Tag it on Challenge this week which was to use a postcard of any size. The only postcard stamp I have is this Crafty Individuals one which Rebecca at The Craft Barn posted out to me overnight before I went to Claxby. I was inspired by a piece of great work I did with my friend Janet while we were away, for the July tutorial on Tuesday Taggers, it was a real treat to work with her, she has great skill and flair which you will see when we launch the next tutorial on the 28th July.

The background paper was an old music book which came in a suitcase full of crafting stuff which a friend in the village left on my doorstep - she is so busy with other stuff she hasn't time to craft. Can you imagine anything so dire! The paper was all fusty and yellow and perfect for this tag without doing a great deal to it. Just overstamped with a leafy stamp, The postcard was stamped, masked then inked and I shaded those little birds with prismacolor and sansodor, roughed the edges, reinked the tag added the ribbon and feather and I'm jolly pleased with the result! I'm Smiling!!! Hope you like.

On a roll and into the aged look thought I'd make my first Christmas card this year to enter the Winter Wonderland Challenge in which Santa is coming to town, so my santa is definately on a delivery. Used the same paper and techniques and added a stamped poinsettia which was coloured with pencils and sansodor again.

Whilst on the Christmas theme, I started making my pressies in on the retreat in Claxby, which was where I made this little Canvas.

Painted with Gesso then inked with Tim Holtz distress inks, I stamped the canvas with a Crafty Individuals Swirl and used the same postcard stamp to make the mountboard image. Went outside the Hall to find a few twigs and stuck them on with a few embellishments, and enjoyed every minute of the process. I do so love messy fingers!

I'm a bit of a naturalist on the quiet and do hedgehog rescue and have been known to wander about with baby hedgehogs up my jumper to keep them warm when we have had to rear abandonded hogs, so these
stamps and the naturalistic feel to the things I've made with them is very close to my earth mother roots (ha ha no pun intended!)

Hope you like the results of my first excursion from the sick bed - I'm still smiling, hope you are too!
x Michelle

So glad you're feeling better Michelle. We've missed you. I'm definitely smiling after seeing your beautiful creations. I love the birdy postcard, that's a great a stamp and the feather and ribbon makes it. The other two are fab too. You are so organised thinking about Christmas already. That doesn't usually start in this house until about 3 weeks before!!!!
Don't over do things and keep smiling!
