The Stampman Challenge - Autumn Splendour

I love this time of year, the wonderful colours, the dark nights, the chill in the air, the clear night skies .............. I could go on and on .........

Mostly though it's the wonderful colours in the falling leaves that make me want to go collect them all and keep them tucked away so I can look at them when I'm feeling low.  Unfortunately, having done that when I was a kid, I soon realised that they don't keep their beautiful colour, that's why I am so taken with the technique I've developed for making autumn leaves that do keep their colour.

Cutting out leaf shapes an layering up the rich colours of the starburst stain autumn set on them produces the most realistic autumn leaves which shimmer and shine in the autumn light.

I used the technique to produce Compo's Matchbox in this months Craft Stamper using a stamp set from a new company Lovin Ink. And guess who Lovin Ink are........... you never will............it's me and Janet!!   We've decided to produce a limited edition collection every now and again which The Stampman have agreed to stock for us and the first one is Compo's matchbox. Watch this space we've a few ideas for future projects too!

I'm not allowed to show you the exact box because of copy write issues but this is a similar box I made before we designed the matchbox front stamp.

As you can see the starburst stains make marvellous leaves and bugs. If you want to know how to make them The Stampman still has som CS in stock here.

For this weeks challenge I thought I'd use the same technique to make a plaque using a Haiku poem I found on t'internet which really took my fancy.

I used

It's a cheapy plaque from poundland which I've covered with canvas, painted and added the leaves and bugs.  It's a birthday pressy for a lovely lady and special friend Glynis so I hope she likes it.

Be lovely to see you over on The Stampman's Challenge Blog
Hope you can come and join us with your autumnal glory!

Happy Days
Michelle

Gorgeous placque. I love, love, love your leaves. Great matchbox too.. I definately want to make one for my Dad.. he's been quite poorly just lately & I'm sure this would cheer him up no end!! He's a big fan of the show too & has always wondered what's inside Compo's matchbox! Not quite sure what to use for colouring the bugs as I don't own any of the Stains..yet!
Have a great Sunday. Thanks for being a wonderful Inspiration Michelle. Big (hugs) Gez.xx

What a fabulous plaque Michelle. I too love the Autumn colours and on a gorgeous afternoon like the one we have at the moment, Autumn is definitely my favourite season. I'm sure your friend is going to proudly display this beauty.

Congratulations on the limited edition stamps btw!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments on my blog and of course I don't mind you using the fold of my latest posted card. T'was a bought one so I can't claim it as my own anyway and anything you liked enough to copy would be taken as a great compliment.

How funny you mention the loose their colours, I just threw away Alfies leaves and thought what a shame that beautifull red is gone ugly brown. Love seing your matchbox

Hi Michelle
just had to let you know - your stamps arrived and I've had a play. They're FABULOUS!

...I can feel a 'bug box' coming on...

My computer has just taken almost 15mins to open your blog so I'll be back later (when it has hopefully woken up a little) to catch up.
