Altering Tins at Try it on Tuesday

Yep, it's an alter it week at Try it on Tuesday and the lovely Pat set us the challenge of altering a tin. I've been meaning to alter this one for a couple of years now so decided to get on with it!

I painted round all the edges with gesso then cut mirror board to fit the flat sides which I then ran through the cuttlebug. After sticking them in place I painted the whole thing with black acrylic paint and when dry rubbed it down with emery paper.  A bit of sticky tape on top to finish it off and here it is

A box for my promarkers

Not my idea unfortunately but one I nicked from a fellow teamie, Neil.  Thanks Neil, it's a great technique!

For more inspiration from my fellow teamies pop over to Try it on Tuesday and have a look at their altered tins, and don't forget we have a brilliant sponsor this week

Who are offering a £15 prize.

They have a fantastic alterable section over at their shop so if you havn't got any tins knocking about, take a looksee what they have to play with!

Have a great week
x Michelle

Fab tin Michelle! Perfect for your markers.
The bookplate die I used on my tin is the oval alterations tag and plate set. The foil was attached to card and I used a Ten Seconds Studio embossing wheel to add the texture around the edges before aging with black paint.
Have a great day, whatever you are doing.

Love this altered tin Michelle, it looks great, and it's useful too.The sanded embossing is really effective on the black background - it looks like antique metal.
Thanks so much for leaving a lovely comment on my blog Michelle - it's lovely to hear from you. Have a happy weekend - Sylvia xx

I see we have the same taste in tea, Michelle, only I haven't got a lovely tin for my bags, they come in cardboard. Do you have to be posh to get the tin!!!!
I love how you've altered it, the embossed card looks gorgeous and it's perfect for your pens. I must get round to putting those little coloured dots on mine.
Hugs Lisax
